Getting "back in the saddle again"
Well, I did the cardio sculpt again today. It showed me that I've gotten out of shape quite quickly. We need to encourage each other on a daily basis. I'm going to ease myself into the 3 day a week diet again. I know I can be successful. My "tighter" pants are not acceptable. Together we will succeed. I love you all!

Sarah's 33rd Day
Did yoga and body sculpt this morning since I won't get to do it tomorrow. Eating was typical vaction food, not so good for you, but I didn't go overboard. Had some awesome deep dish pizza and 2 beers at the bar tonight. I was so tired I tuckered out and had to go to bed while everyone else stayed out. Oh well. Love!

Sarah's 32nd Day
Went to the Y, did yoga and body sculpt, all before Will woke up this morning! It feels so good to just get it over with and have it done for the rest of the day. Eating was good, except for the yummy peanut butter cookie from Mom I had with lunch. It was so fun going to Trinity and seeing all the kids and teachers. They were all so cute with Will! Need prayers for this weekend that I can make good food choices while out of town. That's always so hard when eating out all the time. Also that my little Will stays safe and sound and happy without his Mama and Daddy. I know he will be in the best hands, but it's still hard for us new parents. Jesus, please keep him tight in Your arms. Love!
Nora here
I haven't had anything telling me about expiration... weird! Mom, I can def. stay with you Saturday night. No problem. We can go to church Sunday morning then, too. I really need to start going to Wednesday night church services too! I didn't get to go to very many last year because I had a night class... hopefully I'll start going!
Sarah, I will be praying that the new regimin will start working for you! I know you've been working hard and it's frusterating when it seems like nothing is working... prayers worked for our little Anna and I know they will work for you too!
Love you guys!

Sarah's 31st Day
My mantras:
It's just food. I am the one in control.
Nothing tastes as good as being healthy and fit feels.
I'm worth it.
Will's worth it.
Mitch's worth it.
I'm posting these again because watching Oprah's show about weight loss today, I realized that I'd lost my mantras. I can't remember the last time that I said them to myself, and because of that, it's no wonder that I've been having such a hard time. So I am once again buring them into my brain and dedicating myself to the hard work that needs to happen for me to live my best life. I can do it!
Now a month in, I'm updating my workout plan. It's alot, but if I'm gonna reach my goal, some serious work needs to get done. I'm taking Nora up on her offer to help me out, so on Mondays and Wednesdays I will wake up at 7 and do yoga and body sculpt, then go to the Y at 9 when Nora comes. Tuesdays and Thursdays I will wake up at 5:30 and go the Y before Mitch goes to work, then do yoga and body sculpt when I get home. Saturdays I will wake up at 7 and do yoga, body sculpt, and go the Y. Fridays and Sundays will be days off, although yoga and walks are always good if there's free time. So...I need all the prayers and support I can get to help me focus on this plan and goal. And once I reach the goal, I have my whole life to work at sustaining it! Love!

expiration?
It let me on, but when I first went to the web address, there was a note that my invitation to the blog had expired.
Mom's mumblings
Just be sure to leave a car seat we can put in our car. Dad had been asked by Roger to go to an SIU game Sat. evening, so he'll have to leave Sat. afternoon. Nora, would you want to spend the night with me at Sarah's Sat.?
I didn't do well with eating yesterday... this is hard to get back on track. I'll be glad when our chapel play is over today. I have a 2:30 dermatologist apt. today, then have to be on the road by 3:30 to tutor...hope they can get me out of there in time! I tutor until 5:30 on Thursday. Yes, give Janet a call. She'd love watching Will, I'm sure! Oh, and Thursday eve. at 7:40 we have an apt. for a church directory picture. It's been a long time since we've had a directory...remember the last one? It's on our living room wall.
Nora, that price isn't bad. It's good that you're checking.

Sarah's 30th Day
Did yoga, and eating was okay. Will's sick with a cold so he's been kinda needy all day and not able to sleep much. Hope it passes soon, poor thing. We're coming to Centralia Thursday for a hair appointment at 2:15. I'll call Janet and see if she'll be free to watch Will. Mom, would you and Dad be able to go pick Will up at Laura's Friday evening? She can watch him, but Justin's mom is coming to visit, so they need to stay there. We'll be going that way to Nebraska anyway, so we'll just drop Will and the Explorer off Friday morning and go the rest of the way with Dave and Laura. We so much appreciate you watching Will, and I hate to add to your travels. Just let me know. Love!
Let's get going!
Really... .6 lbs and 3 lbs. isn't a lot!! Especially for after a Thanksgiving feast. I really want all of us to be able to go to Florida and have an AWESOME vacation so we've definitely got to keep giving each other the extra momentum. Prayers all around and Sarah, I will start working out with you as much as I can. During my Christmas break I can work out pretty much anytime. So, I'll watch Will while you go to the Y or I can try to go with you in the morning to make some sort of routine easier.
As far as the trip goes... We can't book flights past May 4th yet. But I priced a flight leaving on a Friday and coming back on a Monday and the roundtrip total was $239.00. That's not bad at all for a roundtrip! That is out of Lambert too. MidAmerica might have better prices but right now they don't have any available flights in May that would work for us at all... all in the middle of the week and none of them are past the 14th. So, just keep all these fun plans in mind and we'll work hard to get there! Love you guys!

Sarah's 29th Day - Weigh In
Weighed 168.3 today. +.6 from last week, -1.7 total. No surprise with all the pigging out and no working out. Went to the Y this morning, but eating was not good. Only 5 months left, and I've got to get something going. I'll never get to Florida at this rate. Grrrrrr. Love!
Monday morning Mom
146 on the scale here at home. Up from last week, WHAT...3 lbs.? Actually I'm surprised that it's not more. I've been nibbling uncontrolled. So, I've had my toast and peanut butter and will now do my 40 min. cardio. We'll have to really pray for each other during this next month. Maybe if we listen to or sing a Christmas carol each time we're tempted to eat that little extra (knowing that others are praying for us). Sound good? Our house looks so great! On Saturday Alicia, Chad, Nora, and Tyler did a great job getting the tree up and decorated, all of the boxes hauled up from the basement and the doorways and banister draped. Alica had the idea to bring the little white square tables from the porch to put on each side of the tree. The stockings are up. Will's stocking has his name on it. Alicia and Chad picked up the stocking for me as well as some egg nog. Tyler bought summer sausage, crackers and cheese. Nora kept everyone focused. This week I have to pull our 5th grade chapel together for Wed.. (The night the animals talked). Then we have 3 "bells" engagements coming up, and we have to start practicing for the school program this week, too. Dad's on the committee this year. Can't wait to attend Audrey's.Love to all of you. It was wonderful to be together and be able to watch the kids. Grandma loved being able to help out, and it meant a lot to her and Grandpa to be able to see all of you. Thank you for making the extra effort.

Sarah's 28th Day
Four weeks in, and I don't even want to know what I weigh after these last 5 days. Back to the plan tomorrow! Love!

Mom here
Alicia: I can see that happening to me if I don't watch out. The treats etc. at school this time of year are killers! The Friendship guild had placed a nice little tray of a carrot cake muffin, malted milk bars, candy corn, etc. on my desk. I ate it ALL yesterday. Oh man. I DID exercise yesterday morning, though. Laura, if you think of it, bring along the other Firm videos to the Thanksgiving get together. If not, no big deal. The nice thing about the one I do is that it's automatic. I don't have to "think" while working out. Love you all. Marcus is liking his bed!Sarah and Nora, I'm sure your places look nice for Christmas. Can't wait to get our decorations up too. It's a wonderful time of year. Laura, I hope you called Julie last night. It was so nice of her to call and offer her insights about Anna. She works with children who have all sorts of special needs, and said she wished she could work with Anna. She said it's very good that she sits and can stand, and that wearing shoes ( maybe even orthodics) will be a good thing.

Sarah's 23rd Day
Did yoga and took a little walk with Will. Eating was okay, but I had a big mug of hot chocolate with lots of marshmallows, like I really needed it tody...I'm still sweating!
Thanks for posting about Anna, Laura. So glad to see that the doc wasn't too terribly concerned and that she's right on in the other areas! We'll keep praying!
See you all at the turkey trot! Love!

Let's be careful girls!

good job!
Way to go, Laura!! You've had a difficult week with the party and worrying about sweet Anna so I know you'll get back into shape quick now!
I don't know if the YMCA does body fat assessment.. I'l have to check that out because that would be great. I ran again today with Tyler and it was really good. We did stop for like 2 minutes to take a water break but other than that we ran at a decent pace the whole time. I'm taking tomorrow off so I can rest for the big race! I'm also getting my hair cut so hopefully it will look cute for T-giving!
Laura, we totally decided at the last second to bring the furniture yesterday. Tyler helped me and sarah (actually we just watched him do it.lol) load the furniture on the back of his trailor and in his Navigator and we got it set up in the living room to surprise mom when she got back from tutoring! It looks SO great! I'll post some pics tomorrow when we go to Centralia.
I'm SO glad to hear about Anna. She will be just fine and I'm glad you are feeling better about everything! Can't wait to see you all on THANKSGIVING!! YAY!!

Laura Finally Got Her Butt Out of Bed!
I finally worked out again this morning - it's been over a week! The scale shows I'm up 2 pounds from last week, so that snapped me back into action! We had Anna's check-up today. You can read about it here: http://pixymom.blogspot.com/
I also decided not to do the speaking training, so I'm feeling better overall.
I didn't know you already got the furniture! Mom, can you take pictures? I'm so excited to see it!
Way to go everyone with keeping with the program. Alicia - that's great news that you are down a few pounds - you, too, Sarah!
Nora - I don't think you need to worry about the weight. What if you just have a goal of increasing your running each month or something like that? Doesn't the YMCA do body fat assesments? I think they do.
Can't wait to see everyone on Thursday morning! Love you!

Well, I weighed myself this morning since I forgot yesterday. I weighed 134, which is actually down a couple of pounds!! Once again I didn't work out yesterday but I did have a really good eating day.
Marcus started laying in his new bed this morning!! I think he really likes it. Of courrse it wasn't util all of the other furniture was covered in cardboard, but either way he is getting used to it which is a very good thing! I have to get back to work now, but I hope everyone has a good day!! Love Ya!

Fine Furniture
How wonderful to have some honest to goodness living room furnitureThe loveseat was an extra special surprise. We'll all enjoy it on Christmas Day won't we? Dad and I LOVE it. I still can't believe that I walked in the house and didn't notice it right away. I'm so sorry. It must have been disappointing after your trip to pick it up and drive it over here and unload it. I guess I was still nervous about not having my purse and needing gas. Fortunately my teacher at the learning center had $9.00 to loan me. Dad didn't think it would be enough to get me home. Thankfully it was. Alica and I bought Marcus a dog bed. He hasn't claimed it yet, but hopefully he will. I got a Wendy's salad on the way back from Walmart....a better choice than the 2 cheeseburger meal I REALLY wanted. Love you all so very much. I think maybe we should tip all of the new furniture upside down or something while we're up North to be sure that Marcus leaves it alone.
Reality check???
Okay, so I just went for a run... I was going to run the same route I've done before-run up to and down St.Louis street then run back, it's 3 miles. Well, about 100 feet into the run I felt like my legs literally weighed 90 lbs. My breath was really short and I was sweating PROFUSELY! I even made a wrong turn after like 1/2 a mile... as I was running up the big hill I couldn't help it, I had to stop! Seriously guys, I can't remember the last time I had to stop running like that! I started running again and ran the rest of the way home but I even shortened the route... I probably ran maybe 2 miles the whole time... I guess my body is just giving me a reality check that I can't eat whatever I want and then think I can run like usual. Granted, I did just eat a sandwich and some chips about an hour ago and it IS hotter outside but it's still no excuse for how bad of a run that was. I better whip my butt into shape if I think I'm going to finish the Turkey Trot in good time! After this run, I'm thinking I might have to bumb my goal from 27 minutes to 30 minutes for the trot!
Sarah's 22nd Day
The doctor's office called this morning, and all my tests were normal. Good news, but I was almost hoping for some medical reason to explain the pounds sticking around. Oh well!
Alicia Here.....
Nora, I think to measure body fat you need certain scales and tools. I'm not sure how else you would do it. I would say the best thing to do would be to do inches. Or what if your goal was to run a certain distance in a certain amount of time. I don't really know, those are my only ideas. That's a really good idea about the doggy bag though. If it's not in front of you then you can't pick at it after you're already full.
I haven't been doing that great either. I have definately been eating better, but I just haven't been able to make myself work out like I should. I forgot to weigh myself this morning, so I'll do that tomorrow and post.

Confession!
Okay, I have to admit, I haven't been getting on and posting because there is hardly anything good to say about my eating/working out habits! I decided that I can't not have a goal in mind. If I don't have a goal, I don't make myself do anything... any suggestions? I'm going to weigh myself today and see if there can be any adjustments there... I'd rather have a fat-muscle goal though. Does anyone know how to measure body fat? I have no idea. I guess I could measure my waist and legs and go for losing inches too. I haven't run since last Thursday and my eating could be better. Mom, with what you said about Marylins... The last few times I've gone out to eat I ask for a to go box right away. Then, I put half of the meal in the box and take it out of my sight! It's GREAT because you don't stuff yourself and you still get pretty full. Also, you have some to bring home! Just some ideas...
Oh man, Anna's party was SO much fun! I loved every minute of it! Can't wait for Thanksgiving so we can make more memories!! Love you all so much! Mom, all the love comes right back at ya!!! :-)

Mom in the morning
O.K. At 3:00 a.m. I weighed 144. At 4:00 a.m. I weighed 143. At 5:00 a.m. I weighed 144. Can I go with the 143? If that's the case, then I only gained 1 pound over last week! Ha Ha. I DID exercise yesterday and the day before. I'm about to exercise now. I just didn't do so well on the eating this week. But I do keep myself from absolutely pigging out, which I've been known to do. Yesterday Dad, Alicia and I went to "Marilyn's". Their special was spaghetti and garlic bread. There was so much on the plate that I ate part of it there, then Dad and I split the rest for supper! Darn, I forgot to get the Firm videos from you, Laura. By the way, I called or emailed the missing picture people again. I'll zip off an email to find out when the new babies were born. Aunt Sandy said she'll be seeing Hannah for Thanksgiving and will get a picture then.Love to my lovelies all!

Sarah's 21st Day
Didn't work out today, but my eating was good. My weight yesterday was 167.6. -1 lb from last week, -2.4 total. Not at all where I wanted to be 3 weeks in, but oh well. I'll just keep working. We decorated for Christmas today...so fun! I love my house at Christmas time, and I wish I could leave it like that all year! Love!
Thanks, Everyone!
Yesterday WAS so great! I'm so excited to think that we'll all be together again in just a few days. I haven't worked out since last Monday - yikes! But, I'm going to try to do it every day this week...we'll see!
Love you guys!
Love you guys!
Agreed
...lots of good times with the ones I love. I can't tell you how wonderful it is to have you all together in the same place at the same time. Laura, your "letter" to Anna was beautiful. It was so great to see Justin and Audrey, and to be able to tell Audrey a story before bed ( and especially to have her request me to tell her one). And little Anna just enjoyed having everyone there with her. Her delight is such a joy to see. Sarah, Mitch and Will...you're such a neat family. I'll bet Will sleeps a lot today! He loves to see what's happening around him, and is always ready to cheer people up with his wonderful expressions. Alicia, it was great to see you interacting with everyone as well. You add joy to any gathering. It's too bad Chad couldn't join us, but I'm glad he'll be able to go up North with us. Nora, it was great to see you and Tyler together again. He loves being around the kids, just as you do. Wish we could have stayed to play some games or something. Laura's idea of a once/month game night was good. We should give it a try...Laura, Kim was telling me about a fun game. She said she'd get the info. to you. And last, but certainly not least...Thanks for the furniture shopping trip. I'm imagining it in our living room. It's going to be great! I love it! It was fun to shop with all of you. I just wanted to shout out "THESE ARE ALL MY DAUGHTERS!!!" I love each one of you from the bottom of my heart, and would do anything for you.

Mom again
Sarah that's good news about your knees. Don't over do it. Keep up the good eating habits. I worked out this morning...haven't every day this week, though. I had a couple of cookies today which I shouldn't have. We'll see what happens this weekend. Well, I should take more ownership of what happens than that, shouldn't I? Dad has a game at 8 in the morning, so I'll go with him, see what happens. If they lose, they're out. If win, play at 4:00. Want to get to Laura's early to help out, so will see how it all works out. Love to all!
Sarah's 19th Day
Today was good. I did yoga, Gilad, and walked. No snacks, either! I went to the doctor today and got two shots. OWWW! They really hurt! I'm used to getting poked to have blood drawn, but shots burn, too. Now I know why Will gets so upset! My arm is really hurting right now...I guess it will for a few days from the tetanus booster. I'm going tomorrow to have blood drawn to test my thyroid, cholesterol, and a couple other things I can't remember. Doctor said my knee pain is pretty common from working out. I just have to lay off the running for a while and try again later. She said she's not afraid of my really hurting them or anything. So, we're so excited for Anna's birthday tomorrow! I can't believe she's one already. What's happening to the babies?!?!?! I know they have to grow up, but I don't know how people make it through the day without a baby smiling at them. I guess we just have to cherish every precious moment we get! Love!

Sarah's 18th Day
Today...not so good. I did yoga, but nothing else, and my eating was the worst it's been since I started. I had cheese popcorn, a banana with nutella, and I ate out of the pan when I was putting the tuna casserole away. I did have Logan for 10 hours, and I noticed that the more stressed I got the more I wanted to eat. I'll have to watch that from now on. Can't wait to see you guys on Saturday! Love!
Mom here
Laura, I'm glad the gal visited your home and did the assessment. It takes me back to when Dr. Ahmad's eyes lit up with the realization of what was causing Alicia's problems. We knew something wasn't right and so did he, but sometimes it takes a different perspective to see it. So now we can get her to the people who can be of help in determining exactly what it is that will help her. You and Justin have done everything right. The girls have had all of their doctor's visits, you read to them, pray with them, involve them in so many varied activities. Audrey and Anna are two very sweet, intelligent girls, and we're so proud of you as parents. So now, if Anna needs extra help with gross motor skills, she will get it, and we will all help out however we can. I did some reading up on things last night too. Even if she has cerebral palsy,( which we need to let the experts decide) the strides they've made are phenominal from what I saw. We don't know that's the case at all, but today's medical possibilities are miracles in themselves. So, whatever her needs are, they'll be met. And, as Sarah and Nora stated, we're all here to help in any ways we can. Dad and I would love to come Friday night unless you have other family members coming then. Just let us know, O.K.? And yes, GOD IS IN CONTROL. Rest in his arms. It's like the bicycle story. We're on a tandem bike with God, and we want to take the front seat. No! Let Him drive. He'll take us on a journey unlike any that we could possible dream of. We need to trust him. I'm going to dig up that devotion and use it this morning at school. We love you so VERY much. As I was talking with Ann, we discussed how we just want to put a bandaid on our kids and fix their problems for them. Sometimes we can't, but God will provide others who can. What we CAN do is pray and give support. Give the girls a big hug from Gramps and Nana.

Sarah's 17th Day
Laura, thanks so much for letting us know what's going on with you guys. Now we can say some special prayers and let you know how much we love and support you! We will ALWAYS be here for you.
Today I did yoga and went to the Y. Unfortunately, running is not going to be in my near future because my knees are currently shot. They're not that bad on the elliptical and stuff, but running is just out of the question. Hope my doctor can tell me a little about what the problem might be. Eating was fine today, too.
Love!

Sorry about the email I sent. I hope it wasn't too depressing...it's just been a tough day. Haven't worked out since Monday and my stomach is upset with the whole Anna thing, so I haven't eaten much at all. Alicia - great idea with the food pyramid! That will make you feel so much healthier!
I forget who has my name for Christmas - Nora, I think. Anyway, here's a few ideas for me or a used sewing machine. I think new ones are pretty expensive. I know, I'm so domestic these days...or maybe it's wishful thinking! I did learn how to crochet, though!

GOOD JOB LAURA!!!! That's awesome!!
It was great to see you and Will Sarah! I can't believe how big he's gotten!!
Yesterday was a good eating day. I've actually been thinking about the food triangle, and trying to get in the reccomended amounts of fruits, veggies etc.. I figure that's a pretty good way to make sure that I eat well.
Hope you all have a great day!!!

Sarah's 16th Day
Wow, Laura! That's awesome! You're well on your way to that goal of yours! I walked 2 miles this morning, but wasn't able to do yoga or gilad. I'll catch up tomorrow. Eating was okay today. It was fun to see you tonight Mom and Alicia! Love!
Laura's Tuesday
Hi Gals - I'm just really bad about posting on here. Seriously, I don't get a free minute to myself until 8:30 at night and that's when I have to get everything done! But...I've lost 6 pounds according to my wacky scale, so I'm not sure how reliable it is. My clothes are totally looser, though! I worked out yesterday morning, but not today. My eating continues to be great. I don't even crave sugar anymore. I went to a birthday party on Sunday and didn't even have cake or ice cream - just fruit and dip.
I'm making great headway on the Borhart calendar. I have all the calendar pages done and the background for the picture pages. Now I just need to add in all the pictures. I need to get copies of the pics you took at the shower, though, Sarah since that is where most of the picture will come from. Can you make me a CD and bring it to Anna's party on Saturday?
Nora - Tyler is going to whip you into shape in no time! It was so great seeing you on Sudnay.
Sarah - Don't worry about the scale. Your body is just getting used to these new routines. It WILL come off!
Mom - Sorry to hear about your pinky! I was cracking up about your comment about the weather. I know it's true, it just sounds so funny!
Alicia - I'm glad Chad is doing ok and you are doing so well with your eating!
I can't wait to see everyone this weekend at Anna's party!
Love to all,
L.

Alicia's Thoughts
Nora that's awesome!!! It's great that you have Tyler to help you work out now. Sarah, don't even worry about that stupid scale. Really weight doesn't even really matter, it's how you're feeling. And you feel awesome right?! Just keep doing what you're doing and I'm sure the weight will start coming off.
I had a pretty good day yesterday. Nothing too major, just normal.
Keep up the good work!!
Love Ya!

First workout with Tyler
Sarah, you will be just fine. You're work out schedule will help you so much in the long run. The weight will just come off slowly but surely! I'm so proud of you for posting every day too. You are definitely loyal to our program!! Keep thinking about the healthy effects you are making on your body.. love you!
Well, tonight was my first work out with Tyler and I have to say it was GREAT! The first major feat was that he actually got me to work out at 8:30 at night when I was SO tired. We did 4 100m sprints with push-ups between all of them. He beat me in all of them, of course. Then we ran 3.2 miles in 27 minutes!!!! It was AMAZING! I was pushing so hard but it actually felt good and I wasn't dying. Guys, that's like less than a 9 minute mile! I was totally proud of myself and hopefully it will just get better. Keep up the good work ladies! Love you!!

Momma Mia
Don't be too bummed Sarah. It will come off. You are doing everything right. Between ditzy scales and our bodies changes each month, it's hard to get a week by week picture. We'll just have to look back and see the patterns over a longer haul. The important thing is to not give up. Love you all! I'll only tutor until 4 tomorrow, so that will be good. I didn't exercise today, and I'm exhausted after getting back from Belleville. You know, my pinky finger (which I jammed a long time ago) was KILLING me on the way home. I'm thinking it's the weather. Maybe that was your knee problem, Sarah.
Sarah's 15th Day
So I got up at 5:30 this morning and went to the Y to weigh in and work out. Lo and behold, I was 168.5, +2.1 from last week, -1.5 total. Don't know what the heck is going on, so I'm telling myself I lost 2 lbs of fat and gained 4 lbs of muscle. haha But seriously, WHAT??? Major bummer, but I'm not getting too upset about it. I'll just keep up the work and the pounds have to come off eventually. I did the elliptical, stair-stepper, and treadmill. I'm up to running 7 minutes this week, but when I started jogging my knees were KILLING me. It got a little better, but I hope it's nothing that will stick around. I'll mention it the doctor when I go this Friday for a physical. Eating was fine today, and I did yoga. I think only getting 8 hours of sleep (as opposed to my usual 10 or so) and working out right away in the morning will help my metabolism. I will still reach that goal! Mom, Will and I are coming to Centralia tomorrow, so we'll see you when you get home from school. Love!
Alicia's Weekend
Well, I didn't have a bad weekend eating wise. I pretty much kept with what I have been doing through the week. My one hiccup was that Chad's mom made French toast on Saturday morning. But I only had two pieces..... Chad had his hurnia surgery Friday morning. Everything went well, but he's still in a lot of pain right now. He was basically attached to the couch all weekend. We watched a lot of movies. He's slowly but surely getting better. My main problem has still been working out. I just can't seem to get into the routine of things!!
Saturday night I was cursing the diet. Me and Kasei went to a party and then on the way home stopped by Hardees. I got a bacon cheeseburger, curly fried, and a coke. I was at home lying in bed, and after a couple of the fries and two bites out of the burger I felt too guilty to eat the rest!! So I guess that's a good sign although I really wanted it at the time.
When I weighed in on our scale I was 138. I'm not really losing any weight, which I know is because I haven't been working out. I just need to force myself to do it!!!! So that's what I'm going to try to work on hardest this week.
I hope everyone else had a good weekend!!! I'll talk to you all later!!

140 lbs. this morning on our home scale!!! (-4 lbs). After talking to Sarah on the phone last night I decided I'd better excercise. Thanks Sarah! So at 9:00 p.m. I did the cardio "Firm", and now I'm glad I did. Got up this morning and scrubbed the stairs, upstairs hall and kitchen and hall/bathroom floors on my hands and knees. Now I'm going to quickly vacuum the living room and front porch. Love you all! Mom

Sarah's 14th Day
Today...not so good. Eating was alright, but I did have a big plate for lunch and snacked on veggies and dip and jello at our Rentfro Thanksgiving get-together. And I did yoga, but didn't work out. Tomorrow it's on, though!
From Mom
There was a 7th grade tourney at Christ Our Rock Lutheran High School (the new one across from KC) yesterday. Our girls had 2 teams, and the boys one. I watched 5 games yesterday. Dad coached two and also one Friday night. Friday I was proud that I didn't have anything to eat, but then on the way out the door, someone handed me a FREE bag of popcorn. I should have declined, but ate it. I probably ate too much yesterday in general, so today I'll try to drink lots of water and be better so that MAYBE I won't have gained weight. We'll see. Weekends are really rough. I didn't exercise yesterday either. Today I have already graded 126 workbook pages, and still have to enter grades for this quarter in my classmaster...not to mention this crazy house needs cleaning. Yesterday at the hairdresser, she noticed a funny looking thing on my face, so I need to make an apt. with the dermatologist this week. I go to Belleville Mon. and Wed. for tutoring and Thurs. for class. Dad has a game at Good Shepherd on Thurs., so I'll drop him off early (5:30) then get to my 6:00 class. I'll pick him up after my class ends at 8:30. It will be a crazy week. Chad had his surgery on Friday. Alicia can fill you in. It's good that Tyler's back. Love you all. Love to you all and big hugs for Audrey, Anna and Will. Sarah, my weight this morning was the same as weigh in last week. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

Sarah's 13th Day
Well, maybe 13 is an unlucky number, but I went to the SIUE fitness center to weigh myself this morning and I was 169. Now, I'm not at all counting this, as it wasn't a digital like the new one at the Y, but I'm still like, hmmmm...... I'll go Monday morning when the Y opens again, and hopefully get the real story. And in keeping with this bummer, I didn't work out today, and we went to Applebee's for supper. I had cheese sticks and fajitas. Not the best in the world, but not the worst. So, we'll see what happens. Hope you're all having a great weekend! Love!

Start to the weekend
Well, I just made Ashley go on a run with me and it was great! It was probably only about 2 miles but it felt SO good. I've been really good with my eating too. I'm going up to Bradley tonight to hang out with Jessica so hopefully I'll be good! Love you guys!
TYLER COMES HOME TOMORROW!!!! :-)
TYLER COMES HOME TOMORROW!!!! :-)
Mom's murmurrings
Oh my goodness, Sarah. How awful for the family. How did Will handle the delay? Were you sitting on the interstate or were you able to exit and get him out of the car for awhile? Good decision to walk/run on the track anyway. I had a couple of the treats the kids brought in yesterday. I know I shouldn't have. I went to Dad's two games last night, though, and didn't have any popcorn or anything. They won them both. He does amazing things with the talent he has. A couple of the starters this year haven't been on the team before. That tells you what he's working with. I have worked out every day this week. I'll look forward to getting Laura's other Firm videos. I haven't explored Fit T.V. yet. Sarah, I enjoy catching up on House and Private Practice and Grey's Anatomy when I can. Having them record automatically is great. Hey, when does American Idol start? Laura, thanks for the gift ideas for the girls. What about a gift idea for you? Love you all!

Sarah's 11th Day
Well, it was a good day. Besides it taking 2 1/2 hours to get to Laura's house, that is. But I am counting my blessings, because the fatal accident took place not more than 1/4 mile in front of us. Please say a prayer for the family and friends of the person/people who died today. Driving is scary business, when you really think about all that can happen. Be careful out there! My eating was good today, thanks for lunch, Laura! And I did yoga and went to the Y, but the fitness room was closed! I thought momentarily about going back home, but I went to the indoor track instead. I alternated walking and running with each song that came on for about 35 minutes. It was great! Nora...the fitness room at the Y is closed till Monday, but until then I can use the SIUE fitness center. Do you want to go weigh in and work out there Saturday morning? I haven't been there in so long, and I used to go all the time! Ah, memories. Love!
Alicia's Thoughts
YEAH ANNA!!! That's so exciting!!! I can't wait to see her on her birthday!!
Nora the epcot idea sounds like a lot of fun. I'm all for anything!!
I'm so proud of all of us and how we're keeping up with everything. My main problem lately has been the working out part. I was in Wal-mart the other day and saw some of those resistance bands for like $6!! So I went a head and bought them, I figured they would be a good investment since they are kind of like a traveling gym! I haven't actually tried them yet, but I'll let you know how it goes when I do. I did find this new drink that I really like. Its called FUZE. It only has like 5 or 10 calories and is low carb. They have all different kinds......energize, slenderize, etc. They are a really good option if you ever find yourself needing something different than water. I've really actually been having fun cooking for myself for lunch and supper rather than driving through somewhere. Even though I haven't been working out like I should, I also tell the difference just with the eating healthier. Well, I have to get back to work. Hope everyone has a great day!!!
Laura thanks for the ideas for the girls!!

You go girl!!!
YAAAY for Anna! You are such a big girl and I can't believe you are going to be ONE soon! Love you so much sweetheart!
Mom here
Yea Anna. You'll be into everything before we know it. Good to see you on here Laura. Nora, the Epcot idea would be fun. I think I'd better be the designated driver. One country and I'd be done anyway. (ha). Sarah, I had put Nov. 10th as a deadline on the Borhart site for calendar pics. I know there will be some we don't have and will have to hunt down. I've received a few and forwarded them to Laura. Does someone else want them forwarded to them? I talked to my Mom today. She said she mailed a CD which had helpful things regarding putting the calendar together since they did it last year. Maybe we'll just have to make a "calendar date" and get it done. It's a Christmas present from Grandma to everyone, and I know she likes to mail them out so people have them for the New Year. Bonnie and Jim will assemble them, so the sooner we can get them done, the better.
I felt good about today. I did "The Firm" this morning. Had my toast and peanut butter for breakfast, the chicken patty and frozen apple juice with milk for lunch. I stopped at a McDonalds on the way to Belleville and got the apples and grapes with yogert dip before I tutored, then Dad said Alicia had made a shrimp pasta for supper, so I just drove home and had that when I got home. My midsection is feeling less "bulky" than before. Keep on keeping on everyone. I love you!I sure do miss all of you and my grandkids. Sarah, the pics from Walgreens were perfect!

Sarah's 10th Day
GO ANNA BANANA!!!!! How exciting. I can't wait to see her in action! Nora, I'm all for it! Sounds like an absolute blast. A good place to splurge after all the restrictions. I can't wait to see what we'll all look like then! Today I did yoga and Gilad, but didn't get a walk in. My eating was good, too. I'm really getting the hang of the plan I made for myself, and now I'm just waiting for the results! Mom, what is the time frame for the calendar? What needs to be done when? Should we start getting the pics that we still need? We'll help you however we can. Love!
21st plans!
Well, since we're all working so hard to be healthier and it's pretty tough, I thought I would throw in an idea for the trip we're taking as a reward for all of the hard work! I was talking with Sarah the other day and we decided that going to Epcot for a day when we're in Florida would be THE BEST time EVER!Epcot is one of the Disney parks and it has all the different countries in it. It is absolutely AMAZING. There are "mini countries" set up all the way around Epcot and they are elaborately decorated like the countries and have food, drinks, decorations, that all are from the country itself. Even all the people that work there are FROM that country. The countries that I remember are Canada, England(one of the best), Mexico, France(has an Eiffel Tower!), Italy, Germany, Morocco, Japan, China, Norway... I can't think of anymore but I might be missing some. Anyway, it is SOOO cool. And there is of course a fireworks show every single night that is amazing! Epcot also has some REALLY cool rides. One of the reasons I thought it would be awesome to go there for our trip is because there is this "game" called "Around the World" that we could play. Jamie told me about it... you go from country to country and have a different drink at each one... needless to say it would be amazing! England has this AMAZING Pub that looks like SO much fun. They have really good beer, Tyler's dad told me. Mexico would have awesome Margaritas, Italy-wine of course, and so on and so on! What do you guys think??? I'm SUPER excited to take this trip with you guys! Here is a link where you can look at pics of the countries at Epcot...

Just thought you might want a little incentive to KEEP WORKING HARD!!! We will also of course go to a waterpark or the beach for a day...
I just got done running 3 miles and it felt GREAT. I'm really getting into the groove of running and I'm loving it!
Love you guys so much!

Hanging In There
Hi Guys,
Sorry I haven't posted for awhile. I've just been busy and tired and not feeling like sitting at the computer! Anyway, I don't really know how much I've lost because my scale is so unreliable, but I think 3-4 pounds. I really blew it last weekend and have only worked out once this week. The cold weather is making it soooo hard for me to get out of bed in the morning. I've been doing ok with the eating, though.
As for Christmas, Justin would like a new pair of running shoes. He wears a size 10 1/2. He doesn't care what brand as long as they are specifically for running. Thanks, Alicia for the yoga pant idea! I think I'm going to put together a wish list on Amazon.com for the girls to help give people ideas for them. I'll try to work on that today. Sarah - Any ideas for you?
In other news, Anna finally crawled today! It was only about 2 feet, but still! Maybe she'll really be crawling by her birthday!
I'm so proud of all of us. Just like someone said, even if the pounds don't come off right away, at least we are being more healthy! Love you!

Hey girls, Nora here!
Well, I've been pretty busy the last two days with school stuff but I've been doing pretty well with the eating. I didn't work out yesterday or Monday but I am DEFINITELY working out today after my 1:30 class. I want to go for a good run and then do a lot of ab workouts. Maybe I'll run and eventually get to Sarah's house so I can do some of the workouts she has on tivo. I'm going to try and run at least 3 miles everytime I run from now on. I think that is a good distance. Plus, that's what the Turkey Trot is and I want to kick butt in that! Not to mention, I'm going to start running with Tyler when he gets back... SATURDAY!!!! :-) Although, he has warned me that he is going to need to be training for his next Adventure Race in December. The 3 miles runs with me will probably just be his warm-up. lol. Oh well!
Laura, how have things been going for you? I can imagine how busy you are with the girls and planning Anna's birthday party. Hopefully Tyler and I can both come! Did you lose some weight when you weighed in on Monday? I'm so excited to hear about it because I know the weight is just falling off. Love you guys and hope to hear from you soon! Love you!!

Sarah's 9th Day
Did yoga, Gilad, and walked around the park 4 times with Will. Meals were good, but I had 2 caramel apples as snacks! I didn't pass them up at the grocery store because they were on sale, so from now on SALES DO NOT MATTER when it comes to junk food. If I'm gonna feel guilty eating it, I'm not gonna buy it. Hope you all had a great day! Love!
Go Girls
You'll be fine, Alicia. I know you can achieve your goal. Laura, we haven't heard from you for a while. Nora, it will be fun to be able to work out with Tyler when he gets home I'm sure. I feel good about me lunchtime eating. I've decided to eat at school, but just what is good for my weight loss. Today we were served PBJ sand.,an apple and carrots/dip. I just had the carrots (no dip) and the apple. I drank part of the milk and that was it. It didn't really bother me. Tomorrow is a chicken sandwich, smilies and a green apple fruit bar. I don't know what
is in the fruit bar, and the chicken is one of those patties, so, if I just eat the patty without the bun, I'll probably be O.K. Maybe just part of the fruit bar. O.K., so I DID eat a halloween treat sized Reese' crunch bar with nuts that our room helper brought in. But yesterday I didn't eat the twinkie. Usually I give my goodies to my room helper, but I'm still O.K. since I ate hardly anything for lunch. I was thinking that when we add a post we should say "Mom here" (or whoever) at the beginning so we all know who is writing without having to scroll down...just a thought. Be sure to let Beck/Bon and everyone know where you want to stay for the Thanksgiving get together. Alicia, you could let them know that you have a blow up bed. O.K. I have one more student to tutor here at 4:30. I've taken on a student in my class who needs this special type of tutoring, so I have 2 at the Learning Center and 2 here at school. It's getting to be lots of preparation, but worth it. It's really rewarding to see the growth.

Well, I had a much better day yesterday. I ate well and worked out. I never did make it to the gym, but I'm hoping to go up there today on my lunch and sign up. Oh, I'm not sure who has me for christmas, did Nora tell me it was Justin? Anyway, whoever it is I really need some good workout pants. I like the Yoga type pants with almost a flare at the leg. Anyway I was just thinking about that. I wear a medium. Doesn't have to be anything fancy. And is there anything that the kids are needing? What about Anna's birthday. What does she need? I was just thinking about shopping for presents last night and realized that I really didn't know what they needed. Let me know..... Hope everyone has a great day!!

Sarah's 8th Day Cont.
Had a good day. Went to the Y again tonight and did elliptical, stairstepper, and treadmill. It actually felt good to get up at 6 this morning and get out and going. But then of course I just went back to sleep when I got home and got up at 9 with Will! I had a little piece of chicken when I put dinner away after 8 tonight. I should have drunk some water instead. Oh well. Good job last week everyone! Even if weight isn't coming off, we're still giving ourselves more healthy habits, and that will pay off in the long run. I'm so glad we started this site. It's just the motivation I need! Love!
Way to go!
Way to go mom and Sarah! That's a GREAT start! Alicia, you'll be fine it's just a matter of self-control. I have the same problem with the eating... but working out is what's going to make the difference for me and I think I'm getting better at making it a routine! Love you guys!
I'm excited!
Hey, I looked back at the old posts, and I started at 148, so I DID lose 2 pounds. Also, I had weighed 154 on the school scale, and today after school I weighed 151, so I'm making some progress. I guess I need to keep a running weekly total somewhere so I can remember.
Yea Sarah!!!
That's terrific! Alicia, we'll get our numbers going in the other direction. Nora: Keep on keeping on. You too, Laura. Any other results?
Bad Bad Bad Girl!!!
I was a bad girl this weekend!!! First off, we went to Lambert's for Kasei's birthday. I had absolutely NO discipline!! I ate fried okra like it was going out of style and got chicken and dumplins!! I even had a coke instead of water! It was so good though!! The only thing that might have saved me was that we ate at like 3:00 so it was my lunch and dinner. Then went to a costume party and indulged in some keg beer. I didn't work out at all this weekend! I'm really just going to have to schedule in time for workouts over the weekend, even if they can't be very long ones. I did good through the week though, so I guess I'm just going to have to learn to adjust. I weighed in this morning at 138. So I gained 2 pounds since last week. But I figure now is a good time to start working out in the mornings since I feel like I'm getting an hour more of sleep. So hopefully I will go up to the body shop and sign up again sometime tonight. It sounds like everyone else had a pretty good weekend!! I have to get back to work though, so I'll let you all know how I did today later.

Mon. morn
Well, I weighed in at 146 this morning. 2 lbs. more than last Monday. I'm not going to get bent out of shape (ha ha) about it, though. I FEEL much better. I've worked out every day but one, I made better food choices and I even drank 8 glasses of water yesterday. If I can continue on this track, I know I'll be LOOKING GOOD by May. I went to a movie with Dad, George and Janet. George had said he wanted to share his popcorn, so I had taken just a sandwich sized baggie. I had him fill it up with non buttered popcorn. That's all the popcorn I had. I took some of Alicia's carrots and celery cut up and slowly chewed on them...even brought half of the bag back. Maybe we shouldn't mention our downfalls like PIZZA, because last night I stuck a cheese pizza in the oven for supper and Dad and I ate it. lol Well, time to start a new week. I've already had my first glass of water. I'm drinking a glass every odd hour throughout the day starting at 7:00 a.m. It's actully only 6:00, which means Sarah is at the Y getting weighed. Gosh, how early do they open? Us Harm girls are sentimental, yes. Kuddos to Audrey! We love popcorn at movies, but we're also DETERMINED once we set our minds to something. Therefore I know we'll all succeed. Love you all! Can't to hear your weekly wind-ups.

Sarah's 7th Day
Good job eating today. Didn't get my yoga in, but I did go the Y and did 25 on the elliptical and did 25 walk run walk run walk on the treadmill. Tomorrow's the first big weigh in! I'm gonna change my weigh in day to Saturday so I can go to the Y in the morning and weigh myself when I work out. I always have like a 5 pound difference between morning and night weight, and I choose to take the morning weight!. So I'm gonna go the Y tomorrow morning just to weigh myself and then come back home because Mitch has to leave at 6:30! Even if I didn't lose any weight...I don't see how that could be possible...I'm really proud of myself for the changes I've made. I've got my whole life to keep up the good work! Can't wait to hear about everyone's progress tomorrow. Love!
11/4
Well, tonight I worked out at the YMCA with Sarah and I feel MUCH better! We went to the mall together today and she said she was going to go workout and I said I'd go with her. I have to say though, when I got home after shopping I was DEAD and I just wanted to sleep! When Sarah called I was thinking "oh man, I REALLY don't wanna go" but since I said I was going I couldn't say no. Having someone to get you to work out is HUGE. I'm really glad I did now! I ran about 2 - 2 1/2 miles on the track and then I did walking lunges around the track... three sets of 15. I was about to DIE but it was good. Then I did some abs and arms with free weights. I feel much better.
Laura - I probably would have given in too. It's so SAD that Audrey got upset when Mary Poppins left! Oh man... she definitely got the emotional stuff from all the girls in our family. At least that means she was into the movie!
I'm so excited to see how everyone does on their weight in tomorrow! I know you guys are just going to be shocked at how much one week can make! Even if the scale doesn't show it, I know you feel better just from working out and eating better. This is so great! Love you guys!

Weekends Stink!
Nora, you're not the only one who blew it this weekend! Nora and I did have a great run and then she made me do abs on the grass at the park, which I've never done but it was fun! Of course, then we went out to lunch and had the best, cheesiest grinder sandwiches I've ever had. Lots of fat, though, I'm sure. Then last night Audrey and I watched Mary Poppins and I gave in and had some Halloween candy after 7pm even! Today I had a big bagel at church and lots of pizza for lunch. Ugh. Audrey loved the movie, though! She cried at the end because she was so sad that Mary Poppins had to leave. It was so sad - she was really upset. I guess she got the emotional genes from us!
Anyway, I'm going to be good the rest of the day and this week is a new week, right? Mom, I have 5 of The Firm tapes that I don't use. You're welcome to use them. Nora, don't beat yourself up too much. Splurging is just part of the process. As long as you get back on track I don't think it's a big deal. Here's to our second week!

Suggestion
I forgot to say this earlier. You guys all know about the microwaving egg thing right? Microwaving your eggs is a GREAT way to keep it healthier because you don't have to use ANY butter to fry it. It takes about one minute and the egg gets SO fluffy. In the fridge here the Darr's have little cartons of egg whites. It's a really good idea to get those for your eggs because the yolk is the worst part for you. I poured some of the egg whites into a little bowl and microwaved it like I would a regular egg and I had awesome, fluffy egg whites! It was really good and its a really good idea for breakfast. My favorite is to microwave the egg and then put it on whole weat englishmuffins. It's REALLY good! Just a suggestion I had for you guys. Love ya!
I'm finally back!
Hey everyone! I know I haven't posted in a while so I will try to fill you in. Well, when I went to the movies with Sarah and Laura I did well at STL Bread Company and had soup and salad then I didn't eat any popcorn or have any soda at the movie! I was pretty proud of myself. Not to mention that the movie was hilarious!! Also, I worked out with Laura yesterday and it was GREAT. I ran 2 1/2 miles and I felt SO good afterward. I have a much easier time when I run with a partner thought. I guess it's because I don't feel as tempted to stop whenever I want to. We ran at a beautiful park in Weldon Springs and it had a trail that was 6/10 of a mile. I ran with Laura during the first three and I was good to go! Laura was good at pushing me to run faster up the hills just because that's what she was doing and I wanted to keep up with her. I gave her a song playlist and while we were running I told her a song that was the perfect tempo for our pace. It's cool when you can be listening to the same song to keep each other at an even pace.
Okay for the bad news... Last night I screwed up anything good that I had done all weekend. I went to a wedding reception for Jessica's gradeschool babysitter. It was so much fun and it was good seeing Libby because she was the next door neighbor at Jessica's old house and would come over and watch us and Shawn when we were freshman. We had a lot of fun with her. But, as you know, wedding receptions are very bad for wanting to watch your weight. I had drinks and more drinks. Wine, Captain and Cokes, not good. Then Jessica drove us back to my house ( No one drank and drove don't worry) and I did it... I had pizza... CRAP!! The good old college "have a few drinks then EAT" thing. It was aweful and I feel like CRAP this morning. Not because of the drinks just because I can feel those late night snacks. SO today I am going to totally detox. I'm going to have some fresh pineapple for breakfast (I'm house sitting at the Darr's and they have some in the fridge, yummy!) And have some salad for lunch and if I want to snack I will just drink tons of water and have some fruits and veggies. I will run today too to try and get all the nasty stuff out of my system! So I guess I can officially say that I'm the first one who has failed on a night of our weight loss plan. I should be punished! I think if Tyler were here he would bring me outside and "fry" me as they do at the academy. Make me do push-ups, run, do ab workouts until I regretted last night. haha. He even warned me... "Don't ruin your diet, you will regret it later!" Why is he always right?
Okay, mom you should SOOOOO go onto FitTV and start tivoing a million shows! You too Alicia! I completely forgot about that. It's lik getting 10 free workout tapes every day! And They are DIFFERENT! It's so great and you should utilize it. It's also awesome because you can tape it and do it whenever you want AND fast forward through commercials! Sharon Mann is really good on FitTV. All Star Workouts are usualy pretty fun. Then of course there is Gilad who wil kick your butt (Althought Sharon Mann could give him a run for his money) and so many more you should check out. Okay well I think that's enough for now... I need to go detox! I think we should have a plan that if someone screws up like I did last nigth someone should go to their house and make them do a crazy workout... lol is that too cruel? I think it would make me think twice at least about eating so much after having some drinks. Just a cruel thought! Love you guys!! Keep up the good work!

Sun.
146 on scale at home today. Go figure. Thanks for the info. on other shows Sarah. I bought a 1/2 gallon water jug yesterday. I'll try to drink a full one every day. It seems like a huge amount, but we'll see what happens. I filled it up to cool overnight, and will keep it in the frig. I worked out yesterday and am about to this morning. I didn't do too badly eating yesterday. I made soup, but then finished up the stuffing Alicia had made. I stayed away from sweets, though, so that was good. Well, I did have one graham stick with some strawberry dip at Kirlin's where I heard a couple of students play Christmas carols with the piano teacher Nora and Laura had. She says "Hi". Sandy Humphrey, THAT's her name. I knew it would come to me. Love you all.

Sarah's 6th Day
Did well eating today, but I didn't make it to the Y, although I did do my yoga. I'll just have to go tomorrow instead. Mom, Gilad's Body Sculpt is a show on FitTV. You probably have that channel. My Namaste Yoga is on there too. There are lots of great workouts...you should check them out and record some for some variety. I'll send some pics to Walgreens for you, probably tomorrow. I'll let you know when they'll be ready. Hope everyone's having a great weekend! Love!
Sat.
Sarah: What's gilad? Just got the pic of you and Sarah at the library. Thanks! I "hear" you, Sarah, regarding weekends. They are tough. But we can do it. Maybe we should all get in the habit of calling someone when we're tempted. It's a thought. Before I forget, Janet was asking if you or Nora had pics of David's wedding. We'll get together with Beth one of these days to celebrate her birthday which was the day before Alicia's. Janet would love a pic of Beth, herself and I taken at the wedding if they turned out decently. We could give Beth one too. Also, Janet said if there's a pic of Audrey, Anna and Will together, she'd like a small one and that we could give Beth one, too. So, whoever took the pictures at the wedding, if you could send any via email, or to Walgreens for me to pay for and pick up like Sarah did before, that would be great.
Back to the weight issue. I didn't weigh in this morning. Last night I was discouraged, because our bathroom scale said I weighed 148. 143 in the morning. 148 at night. Alicia said I should always weigh at the same time of day. I know that I need to drink water. So, for this next week I'll try to do that. I'll see if I can find those big bottles Sarah uses anywhere in town here. I got into some corn chips last night...not good. I just got done doing the cardio workout again, though. Do any of you have the other "Firm" videos you are not using? I do have other things and should change up, but honestly, this one always brings a sweat and works lots of body parts. I need to spend more time on abs though, since that's my biggest trouble spot. Love to all. Nora: You must be busy lately. Fill us in on your "jobs".
I wouldn't miss Audrey's first Christmas program either. I've got both dates on our calendar. I think our school program is the 16th, so the 15th for St. Charles would work. My class plays bells in church on the 18th, so I'm glad Anna's party is the 17th. What does she need? Laura, what do you need? I guess the girls already you got you your I pod, right? Sarah's birthday is only a couple of weeks after the 17th. What should we do about celebrating Sarah, Justin and Dad's birthdays? Love you all.

Sarah's 5th Day
Had a good Friday. Did my yoga, Gilad, and walked to Target. But I did have a bag of popcorn after 8 oclock at the movies. I just can't go to the movies without popcorn! I'm going to really have to keep focused over the weekend to not undo all of the good I did this week. Weekends are usually my downfall, but I intend to push through and do what I need to do. I can do it...and you can too!!! The 15th sounds good for us for the festivities. And I wouldn't miss Audrey's first program for the world! Can't wait! Love!
Feeling Good
I'm so proud of you all! You are doing so great. Even the small good choices will eventually add up and I know they make you feel good!
I know what you mean, Sarah. I think you'll be amazed at what you've lost just in water weight, etc. Can't wait to hear!
It's amazing how much better I already feel after only 5 days. I worked out yesterday morning and had a good eating day. Today I haven't worked out, yet, but my eating has been good so I'm ok with that. My goal was to workout 4 days a week and I'm on track.
Alicia, I'm not fixing anything different for dinner...just eating less. We eat pretty healthy, I just have a habit of having 4 portions instead of 1! This week we had spaghetti, chicken enchiladas, and Mom's Chinese chicken with the Peapods. Tonight we'll just do leftovers. I think it's a good idea to join a gym. There's something about working out with others that is energizing. It's not practical for me right now, but I've always enjoyed it in the past.
Nora, how are you doing? I know it's hard to fit things in between school and work, but you can do it! I bet Tyler is proud of you, too!
Mom - you're on a roll! I think it's ok to have a sweet now and then. We need to reward ourselves a little, just not overdo it.
I have to get a digital scale this weekend. I think that will really help me. I also can't wait to get those songs from Nora and the yoga tape from Sarah! Keep it up!
As for the Saint Charles thing and cookie making, the only weekend that doesn't work for us the 8th/9th. That is the weekend of Audrey's first Christmas musical! I'm so excited! The songs are really fun. I hope you all can come. It's Saturday and Sunday at 4pm. Why don't we do the 15th?

ah
Even though I ate two desserts with lunch yesterday (room moms brought lunch and goodies during conferences and some of Alicia's delicious chicken/stuffing last night I weighed in at 143 this morning. I didn't work out yesterday either...not such a good day, but I did this morning and will tomorrow. It does help having to be accountable to all of you. I loved the kids' pictures too!!! So adorable. The costumes were great! Love you all. Keep up the good work everyone!
Time for the Gym
Well, I've been very happy with my eating this week. You're right Sarah it's crazy that you don't even crave any of the junk food like you used to. I've been doing Denise Austin every day after work, but I'm already getting bored with it. I think it's about time that I go and get a membership at the gym again. I just feel like I need to be doing some weight training along with the cardio. So maybe sometime this weekend I can go and do that. I still haven't been able to make myself get up early enough to work out before work. That is my new goal for next week. I remember when I used to do that before school. I just felt so energized all day!! I've been cooking us supper this week, but I'm running out of side dishes! I've been taking the approach that as long as I eat well throughout the day and workout that I can eat what I want (within reason) for supper, as long as I have small portions . But I don't want to fix anything that's going to throw off my diet either. Just wondering what you guys have been cooking. Let me know if you have any ideas!! Hope everyone has a good day!! Love Ya!!
Those Halloween Pictures were adorable!!! They all looked so cute!!

Sarah's 4th Day
Good day today. The oatmeal this morning was pretty good, and it did fill me up. Only had one snack today, an apple. I'm amazed at how much less I'm eating than I was just 5 days ago. We'll see how the scale responds on Monday! I did yoga and went to the Y, although I had to wait until 8:30 tonight, which sucks, because I hate going after dinner. I'd much rather work out on a semi-empty stomach. I did elliptical for 25, stair-stepper for 10, then walk 5 run 5 walk 5 on the treadmill. I got some new songs from Nora last night, so that was fun, although I only listened to music on the treadmill cause good shows were on TV. Hope you guys had good days, too! Hey, let's set the date for our Christmas outing and cookie party. I don't think we have any plans yet for the Saturdays in December, except for the 22nd, but I figured we'd want to do it earlier in the month anyway, just to avoid things getting too crazy. Love!
144
Well, I'm 144 on the home scale this morning. I did most of "the firm" last night and am feeling better around my midsection. One other time I set my goal to get into the blue sequined dress...remember it? I didn't make it before. This time I'll set my goal to get into the two piece beige suit which I bought as a possible mother of the bride outfit but never wore. It's knee length, for one thing. Any way, I like it, and could wear it to a fancy place to celebrate my new size. So, that's my goal. To fit into it, I think I'll have to be down to about 130-135 lbs. The lowest I've been in years is 138. So that's my goal, and I'm sticking to it.
On a "motherly" note, maybe Sarah and Nora could do more jogging together. Pairs are good, girls. Just be safety cautious, please? Always write a note or let someone know where you're going. Nora, can you hear cars, etc., while you jog with headphones on? That's all I'll say on the subject. I love you all so very very much. I might like Nora's collection of songs too. Some days I could use the treadmill, or I could use them in P.E. Could they be put on a CD?
Laura, I like that Mueslix too. I'd forgotten about it. The idea for cappacino flavored coffee is good, too. Sometimes I just have a craving for cappacino. I'll pick some of that creamer up this weekend. I could even have that at school on occasion. Got to exercise this morning. The day will be a busy one.

Sarah's 3rd Day
Happy Halloween! How cute are all the little kids. But I get bugged by the older kids coming around wanting candy, although I was out there gettin the candy till 8th grade! Had another great day eating and working out today. Did yoga and Gilad with Nora, then Will and I walked to ShopNSave. On the way back I saw the CUTEST dog in a yard, and the owner was outside, so I asked what kind it was. Shipoo- shitsu/poodle mix. That's one I hadn't heard of yet. She was a puppy, about 4 pounds, and he said she'll be about double that as an adult. We'll probably get a dog eventually, so I'm always looking for the right one for us! CUTE!!! On the breakfast talk, I got some oatmeal at the store today. Maple and brown sugar is the only kind I can stand, but it's supposed to be good for you and filling, so I'll try it out tomorrow! Celebrating birthdays on the 17th is just fine for us. Anything we can bring, Laura? Love!
Please note
Dad's worn out from Bball practices. Our teacher conferences are tomorrow and Friday. He says we should celebrate Laura's and Alicia's birthdays after Anna's. It's possible that he MAY be able to get to Anna's party even though the Good Sh. tourney is that weekend. As much as I'd love to see the grandkids and you and your spouses, we'll pass on getting together this weekend. I'm sending each of you some great 50 calorie snack ideas from an AARP newsletter. Maybe you can use an idea or two. I broke down just now and ate a rice Krispie treat someone brought to school. It wasn't very big, but I know I shouldn't have. I'm still working at the school here getting ready for conferences (5:00). I'm so glad my teacher at the learning center gave me this week off from traveling. I would have REALLY been worn out. I'll be at it again next week. I'll have three lessons to prepare over the weekend. I DO love it, though. A parent asked me to tutor a first grader tonight after school and I said "no". I hated doing it, but I have to be careful. Of course any time you girls want to visit us in Centralia you're welcome. You know that, I hope. Much love, Mom
Breakfast Tips
Alicia, I was thinking about you eating breakfast, which is one of THE BEST things you can do, and I wanted to share some of the things I've been doing. I found Muesli at Aldi's, which is a type of cereal with oatmeal, nuts, dried fruit, etc. It's usually really expensive, but at Aldi I think it's only around $2 a bag (it's a little bag, though). Anyway, since it has so much protein in it, it really fills you up. You could keep a bag at work and even eat it dry if you didn't have time to eat at home.
Also, I know what you're going through by not having a cappuccino. I love them! So, what I do is get those single serving Folders packets (I use decaf) and make a cup of coffee in the Microwave and then I buy those Coffee Mate special edition creamer bottles (near the milk at the grocery store). They have so many yummy flavors like Caramel, French Vanilla, etc. By adding a tablespoon or two of that to my coffee it is just what I need to warm me up and still give me that little taste of sweet that I need with a fraction of the calories. I think cappuccinos have about 500 calories!
Just wanted to share!

Great workout day!
I'm impressed that you didn't eat any cookies, Laura! You're so right about the not craving sweets if you don't eat them... keep up the good work with the eating! I think you can definitely get a workout in today. Even if it's not a run or anything cardio, hold Anna and do some squats. Or, do some abs while she's playing with her toys on the floor. There are so many ways you can get little exercises in that might not be a full blown workout but it is SO much better than not doing anything at all. Love you!
Today I ran to Sarah's house and then did Yoga with her and part of the Gilad Body Sculpt. Holy cow!! He kicked our butts BIG time! There were so many squats we were both about to die when we were done. It was good though. The run to Sarah's house was really good too. I pushed myself REALLY hard at the end because a good, fast paced song came on and I ran to the beat of it for the last minute of the run. It was basically a sprint! It felt so good when I was done. So, so far today has been a good day!
I should be free this weekend too. So we can decide on whatever! Love you guys!

Happy Halloween!
Yeah, Alicia! Good for you! That's so funny, Mom, about your shirt:) Sarah and Nora, you're doing great, too! My day isn't off to that great of a start. I just COULDN'T get out of bed this morning, so no workout for me. Then, I had told Audrey that we would make sugar cookies today and use the pumpkin cookie cutter. I did ok, though, I think I only ate about the equivalent of one cookie in dough and I didn't have any cookies. Actually, after being on a sugar fast for 2 days, I don't really even want any of the cookies. It's amazing how much easier it is after just a few days! When I eat sugar, I crave sugar, but if I don't eat it at all I'm ok. Maybe I can still get a workout in tonight. I think Justin is going to take Audrey trick-or-treating and I will stay home with Anna.
If you want to get together this weekend, that would be great. Waiting till Anna's b-day is fine, too. Just let me know!

SUCCESS!!!
Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone!!! I am happy to say that I did not give into temptation!!! I packed a ziplock baggie of celery and cucumbers and another of grapes to take to the movie along with a bottle of water. Even as I was packing my healthy snacks I was not so sure, because the popcorn at the movie is my favorite part. Even then I was saying to myself that if I got it with no butter it wouldn't be that bad. But when Chad came to pick me up him and dad were giving me a bunch of crap saying that they didn't think that I'd be able to do it! Stupid boys!! So right then I decided that I wasn't going to touch the stuff just to prove them wrong!! And I did!! We ate at Lone Star and I got Steak, grilled shrimp, and steamed veggies!! I ate about half and took the rest home!! I felt so good about myself knowing that I didn't give into any of the temptation. I've been eating yogurt and fruit for breakfast the last couple of days, I haven't really had time for anything else. At least I'm eating something healthy though and not just drinking a cup of cappiccino!! The only bad thing about yesterday was that I didn't have time to work out. But I figure screw it, it was my birthday!! I'll try to do some extra today.
It sounds like everyone had another successful day!! Keep it up!! Sarah, I have no doubt that whatever your goal is you will reach it and look awesome!!! Nora, when you have such a hectic day it's going to be hard not to eat past 8:00 etc.. I would say just don't go too crazy and keep working out like you are and it won't make any difference. I would love some good song suggestions as well. I'm just like Sarah, it seems like I spend half of my workout skipping the slow songs and looking for ones that are going to get me going!! I'm planning on joining the gym again so that will come in handy!! Laura water weight or not 2 pounds is 2 pounds! Good job!! Good job mom!! I wish I could have been there to see your little shirt fiasco! I don't have anything going on during the day on saturday or sunday this weekend. But celebrating after Anna's party sounds like a good idea also. We'll all already be there anyway! But I have to get back to work. So I will talk to you all later!! Love you all!!

You'd be proud of me. I came home and did cardio sculpt between school dismissal and tutoring at 5:15. Here's the funny part. Linda Gullen came into my room around 7:30 last night. Dad had practice, and I was still messing with things for parent conferences tomorrow and Friday. After we talked, she says, "So, do you always wear your shirts inside out?" I had changed back into my school clothes quickly after doing the cardio, and was in such a hurry that I didn't notice. We had a good laugh. I wonder if my student noticed. It was my red polo shirt.
I know what you mean about scales Laura. According to our one at home I lost 4 pounds in a day. I weighted 144. I can relate to Sarah too, because last night on our weighted scale at school I weighed 154. Unfortunately, I think it's the accurate one. Sarah, stick with your goals, you'll be able to get to where you want to be. The adjustment in your goal is probably smart. Maybe you'll make the original, anyway, but don't be too hard on your body. Nora, some days are just crazy. We do the best we can, but this little blog is helpful, because last night when I got home I wanted more chili ( I figured that without crackers it wasn't far from what's on my 3 day diet. ) I had only about a 3rd of what I had put in a container. I was still starving, but I took about 4 of the little celery pieces Alicia had bagged and about 3 tiny carrots. I DID however, have half of a small glass of Lambrusco which Alicia and Chad had brought home. Could all of you get together this weekend to celebrate Alicia and Laura's birthdays or should we wait until the day of Anna's party? What are your schedules? Love to all.

Tuesday
Happy Birthday, Alicia! We mailed your cards this morning, so hopefully you'll get them tomorrow. I hope you had a great dinner and movie. Can't wait to hear how you did with the popcorn...that's sooo hard! I ran outside for 30 minutes this morning and it was awesome. I love running when it's so cool...feels like I could run forever! Then the girls and I went to Sarah's and I did a few minutes of yoga there. I did ok with my eating. I had a few crackers after dinner because I just wasn't full, but no candy!
Good news is I've already lost over 2 pounds. Ok, I know that's water weight, but still! I need to get a digital scale, though. The one I have is too unpredictable.
Yes, Nora, I would love that playlist! I struggle with what to listen to, as well. Mom, we don't have anything going on this weekend, but I think we're booked after that throughout November. We're going to do Anna's b-day party on her birthday, Saturday, the 17th. If everyone could just stick around, we could celebrate mine and Alicia's then, too. Otherwise, like I said, this weekend works. Just let me know!
Keep it up everyone!

GOOD JOB everyone! Sounds like the day was pretty good. Alicia, how did you do at the restaurant and movie? It's okay to splurge a little on your birthday! Sarah, you'll be just fine and I know you can get down to 145. Maybe we can take a run together this weekend?
My day was... not the best. I was in Belleville student teaching from 8-12 then had class from 1-4 then class from 5-8:30 so it was CRAZY! I had a bowl of cereal after class tonight which was obviously after 8:00 but tomorrow is another day! I am going to do pilates in the morning before class and run again and do weight training before my second class.
Sarah, I will definitely make you an awesome running playlist and I will give it to whoever else wants one! Love you guys!!

Sarah's 2nd Day
First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALICIA!!!! I hope you had a great great great day. Second of all, I have good and bad news. The good news is that I did awesome today, followed my plan to a T. At the Y I did 25 minutes on the elliptical, then 25 minutes on the treadmill. My goal was to run for 5 minutes, and I ended up walking 5, running 5, walking 5, running 5, walking 5. Nora, I really need your music on my ipod. I spent half of my running time flipping through trying to find songs that would help me out. Music really makes such a difference when it comes to running. The bad news is that I weighed myself on the "real" scale at the Y, and I'm 170 pounds, not 165. What makes me so mad is that I got down to 159 when I was pumping so much, and now that I've stopped, I've gained 10 back. Goes to show how many calories I was burning making all that milk! So...I'll change my goal weight to 145, even though I'm gonna try my DARNDEST to still make 140. I think I can do it. Especially with you guys here to support me! Mom, thanks for the ideas for Christmas. I'll see what I can do! Lots of love to you all!
Mom's murmurrings
I weighed 148 on our home scale. I didn't remember to weigh in at school, but it would be a difference with and without clothes anyway. I had a slice of toast with peanut butter and coffee for breakfast. I brought 5 saltines and cottage cheese for lunch. Alicia's volunteered to bag some fresh veggies for snacks, so that will be nice. The small plate idea is good. If I do that on my non diet days, I'll make better headway. I have a bottle of water in the teacher's room frig. I NEED to drink more water Coffee and diet coke are not the best. I limit my soda to one/day unless I'm driving. Then sometimes I need another. Hey, you all missed out of the Happy Birthday pots and pans banging this morning girls. Dad and I did our best by ourselves for Alicia. Laura, we never did have our birthday get together for you and Alicia. Can we get one in yet before Thanksgiving? Sarah and Laura, ask Justin and Mitch what they want for Christmas. We have their names. Sarah, I had 3 different ideas for you regarding myself. I'd love to have cpies of the Psalty tapes I gave Laura, or CDs would be even better. Psalty 1 and 5 and the one about camping. You girls remember which ones we did. Another possibility would be a Reader's Digest piano book like Mitch has from his Mom. I know they make all different kinds. They're easy play.. that's what I like about them. The other idea is perfume. Alicia had a sample of a Mary Kay perfume that was nice. You probably know better than I do what some good ones are. Any of those would be great. Just thought I'd put these on while I'm thinking about them. Love you all. By the way, I didn't get "the firm" in this morning, but I got some chili in the crockpot. The hamberger was already thawed. I should have time to work out tonight. Alicia and I may be able to squeeze in time right after school for a birthday shopping expedition here in town. Love you all! I'm typing as I'm keeping my eyes on the class while they take their math test, so if there are mistakes, that's my excuse.
1st Day
Good job guys!!! It sounds like everyone is doing great!! I weighed in this morning at 136, who knows if that's right on our scale but I guess as long as I keep weighing myself on the same scale it doesn't really matter, right? I was happy with my first day. I wasn't aware that it was going to be my first day of the diet when I woke up yesterday so I didn't eat breakfast. And I started drinking a sprite, I was planning on just starting today. But then I decided that I might as well just start it in the middle of the day yesterday because I knew that I would have just pigged out because I wasn't technically on the diet yet. So, I dumped out the sprite and had a 6" turkey sub from SubWay for Lunch (I don't count that as fast food) then had some grapes as a snack. I have some healthy snacks stored in the fridge at work for when I get hungry. I did kickboxing when I got home from work and had grilled chicken, rice, and beans for supper. I felt so good last night knowing that I ate healthy and worked out. My plan is to start getting up early and running on the treadmill as well, but that didn't happen today. I just need to get into the habit again.
Tonight is going to be the big test. Chad is taking me out to eat for my birthday and then we are going to see Dan in Real Life. The plan is to eat as healthy as possible at the restaurant and to bring a ziplock of veggies to the movie instead of popcorn. Pray for me because it's gonna be really hard to pass up the free popcorn!!!! But I CAN DO IT!!! Good luck today everyone!! Keep up the good work!!

Great First Day!
I had a really good first day successfully following my plan. I did my yoga, body sculpt, and walked to Walgreens with Will. Eating was good too, but I now know when my temptation time is gonna be. In the afternoon, a couple of hours before dinner, I want to eat ANYTHING I CAN GET MY HANDS ON. I satisfied myself today with an apple and peanut butter, okay, I know peanut butter isn't part of the snack plan, but come on! At least I didn't go for the Halloween candy and chips. Dinner was great, I filled up my small plate and passed by the leftover ricearoni with only a medium urge to finish it off. So, with one day down, I'm optimistic about the future. I know it's gonna get TOUGH, but we're worth it! This is so fun reading about you guys, let's really keep it up every day! Love you!
LOL about mom's bikini comment! I think you will look FABULOUS in whatever you wear, mom!
Okay, well my eating today wasn't the BEST but it could have been a lot worse. I woke up and was in a hurry to get to class. I looked in the fridge to grab some breakfast and there's no milk for cereal and no eggs... those are my usual breakfast choices. SO, I grab a piece of pizza from the little ceasars box... BAD I know! Other than that bad choice it was a pretty good day. I went to the gym and did a work out class... it wasn't that great. It was half an hour of some weight training and jump roping... but I didn't think it was enough so I ran for 30 minutes! It felt SO good, I was amazed at how fun it was getting back into exercise. Honestly, I had the best playlist on my iPod and I was rocking out the whole time I was running. The best part was... I was going to stop at 25 minutes but a really good song came on and it was EXACTLY with the beat of my running so I didn't want to stop! I'll have to make you guys a running playlist with these songs because it definitely made it easy for me.
So far, it souns like everyone is kicking BUTT! Way to go! Just try to keep up the good work. I know the pounds are just going to start shedding off of everyone. Love you all so much!

Laura's 1st Day
I'm so glad everyone is on here! What fun. I got up at 5:45 this morning and ran on the treadmill for 15 minutes then did Denise Austin Fit Lite. Then I did 20 push-ups! Yeah! I did well eating, too. We went to Trader Joe's to get some groceries and I passed on the sample of pecan pie. I had a handful of pumpkin seeds for a snack this afternoon, but no halloween candy! I also used a small plate like Sarah suggested for dinner and only had seconds of veggies. My tummy is rumbling right now, but I'm NOT going to eat! This will be exciting!
Oh, yeah, I forgot to weigh myself this morning before I worked out, but after I worked out I weighed exactly 140, so that's what I'm going with. I'll weigh in on Mondays, too. This is so great that we can cheer each other on and hold each other accountable. I can't wait to hear how everyone else did today!

O.K. Alicia helped me get on here. I'm going to weigh in on our scale in the morning, then weigh in at school to see the difference. I started in on my 3 day diet again today. It's the only thing that has worked for me lately. I plan to do that and the cardio sculpt from the "Firm" 5 days/week. After I get to where I feel better and can get in more of my pants, I'll have to come up with something that I can do all the time and keep my weight off. This will be great not only for the slimming down, but also just to communicate with all of my girls every day! I'm NOT going to wear a bikini, either. My C-section scars are not pretty, but that's O.K. Look WHO the results were. I love you all so much!
Nora's goals
Your goals are all awesome, guys!!! I'm so excited because I know we're all gonna look amazing in Florida. Like Sarah said, we will look dead sexy in bikinis!!
I will take a multi-vitamin every morning
I will do pilates five days a week
I will make an effort to eat healthier
-I will only eat ramen once a week. When I want to eat ramen I will make a salad- it's faster to make and so much better for me!
I will do some kind of cardio workout 4 days a week
I will do at least 20 push-ups every night
NO eating after 8:00 p.m.
My main goal isn't a number of pounds lost - I just want to get rid of all my flab and be more toned. The most important thing is that I need to be more healthy overall. I can't wait because I know we are all going to kick butt and look amazing!
When I feel like I can't do it I will look at Sarah's mantra's that I will have posted on my bedroom door! If that doesn't work I will call one of my sisters to whip me back into shape! Love you guys!!

My goal is to lose 10 pounds. I am going to start getting up early enough to eat breakfast and just eat better in general. I am going to stop eating fast food, and do some sort of working out at least 5 days a week.
Is there a certain day that we have to weigh in? And are we posting them?
Good luck everyone!!!!
